Whether you’re welcoming home a brand-new puppy or kitten or just want your longtime companion to thrive, a happy pet really comes down to a few simple things: good food, a steady routine, plenty of play, and lots of love. Here’s how we think about it at LifeTime Pet.
Start with the bowl
Nutrition is the foundation of a healthy belly and happy paws. Feed a quality, complete food that matches your pet’s age, size, and activity level, and keep portions consistent so you can spot changes in appetite early. Not sure what to pick? Our team can help you compare recipes and brands — and if you’re in Olathe, we’ll even deliver it to your door for free.
Build a routine
Pets feel their best when they know what to expect. Consistent feeding times, potty breaks, walks, and bedtime help reduce stress and make training easier — especially for a new dog or cat settling into your home.
Keep them moving (and socializing)
Daily exercise and mental enrichment burn off energy and keep boredom (and boredom-related mischief) at bay. For dogs, time around other pups is wonderful for confidence and manners — it’s exactly why so many families bring their dog to our daycare a couple of days a week.
Stay on top of health
Keep vaccinations and flea/tick prevention current, brush and bathe regularly, and don’t skip routine vet visits. Catching the little things early keeps them little.
New pet? A few first-week tips
- Give them a quiet space of their own to decompress.
- Introduce new food gradually to avoid an upset tummy.
- Start gentle handling and short training sessions right away.
- Be patient — trust is built one good day at a time.
